TEXAS PHYSICIANS TO GET AT LEAST $10.7 MILLION IN UNITED SETTLEMENT
Physicians who filed claims against UnitedHealthCare in the lawsuit over its usual, customary, and reasonable (UCR) claims payment system will soon receive payments. A federal judge has approved the release of payments from the 2009 settlement of the case. Texas physicians will receive at least $10.7 million. The suit alleged United used the UCR system to underpay physicians’ claims for out-of-network services for 15 years. TMA participated in the case via our support of The Litigation Center of the American Medical Association and State Medical Societies.
