MALONE-CARMEL TEXAS TRIBUNE INTERVIEW LIGHTING UP THE INTERNET
As 2012 TMA Winter Conference was beginning, TMA President Bruce Malone, MD, and American Medical Association President Peter Carmel, MD, sat down for a lengthy interview with the Texas Tribune. The story that followed — which touched on the SGR, Medicaid cuts, and the state’s new law requiring a sonogram before an abortion may be performed — has garnered a ton of national attention and lit up the Twittersphere. Dr. Carmel called the sonogram law “needless, dangerous interference with the practice of medicine by politicians,” which tracks TMA’s position on the bill.
