House Speaker Tom Craddick (R-Midland) named former TMA Council on Legislation Chair Joe Bailes, MD, to the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute Oversight Committee. The nine-member panel will manage the operations and staff of the institute, which the legislature created last year. Voters last year approved a constitutional amendment to issue $3 billion in bonds that will finance the institute’s research and prevention activities.
